Promo Video – Green Door Distilling Co

The fellas at Green Door Distilling Company have quickly become friends of ours, and not only because there are a lot of whiskey-drinking Rhinos. We love helping small businesses tell their stories, especially when they're in Kalamazoo.

Green Door is the first distillery in Kalamazoo since prohibition, and they wanted to come up with a way to promote their hand-crafted whiskey. Because they're very close to opening (they're waiting on licenses and government approval), we wanted a creative way to get people excited about a product that's not yet in production.

We filmed at a local restaurant, Principle, over the course of four hours. We chose Principle because it had the vibe and the feel that complimented the soon-to-be Green Door bar. Our friend and fellow whiskey drinker David helped us out by playing the bartender.

We used an FS700 on the Kessler pocket jib to achieve a variety of shots in a short amount of time, and we filmed at 240 fps for the slow motion shots. The last shot of the video was filmed on a Black Magic Cinema Cam at 24 fps to change up the pace and sell the "coming soon" joke.

The only downside of the shoot was that we weren't able to shoot any whiskey pouring into a glass, which left us thirsty. We are very much looking forward to when Green Door Distilling has whiskey to be filmed and consumed.

You’re Welcome

For this project, our client, Impact Athletic, gave us free reign to do whatever we wanted as long as it was zany.

The "intern" is actually the intern, (Rob Heath) other than that, it's all just good old fashion weirdness.

Jeremy wrote the script, Jonny produced the video, camera was Dan Baker, post production was Dan Martinez, Jeremy Angeletti and Dan Baker.

Other Crew on the shoot were Angel Arnold, Nick Benitez, Brooke Mayle.

Special thanks to Collin Moeller

Old Burdick’s Bar and Grill

For this Old Burdick's Bar and Grill spot, we channeled our inner Sam Elliot and went for a subtle Big Lebowski opening scene feel. First we needed a rugged cowboy-type character. Luckily we remembered the guy who won a beard and mustache competition we co-hosed with Damn Handsome Grooming Co. His name is Mike Pixley and he races vintage sports cars and has a sweet mustache... so he seemed rugged enough.

This spot features many of our other friends including Jeff and Jodi Bodtke, Rob Bodtke, Jonny Jermyn, Carrie Heath, Sydney Hill, Consuelo Salazar, Jeremy Shank, Angel Andrews, Jada Brown, Jarrett Blackmon, Bridget Blackmon and Bisera Urdarevik, to name a few.

Most of this spot was shot using our Sony FS700. We alternated between shooting at 24fps and 240fps. We used our Kessler dolly track and K-Pod to track our "frozen" scenes. Some scenes were shot on our Canon C100 w/Atomos Ninja monitor.

We took this project from concept to completion, including story development, scripting, casting, storyboarding and all production and post production. The voice over was provided by the talented Jack Baer.

Kalamazoo Growlers TV Spot #3

The latest TV spot for the Kalamazoo Growlers of the Northwoods league. This spot had the added challenge of incorporating game information and sponsor information... which is always tough to do when mostly you just want to show sweet shots of baseball action. I'm very happy with the turn out here.

Also, the music was custom recorded by myself (KR) and Ben Lau of Double Phelix Studios in Kalamazoo, MI. That's always fun.

Kalamazoo Growlers TV Spot #2

Original concept produced for the Kalamazoo Growlers.

For this, we wanted to produce something a little more lighthearted to help promote the fact that baseball was back in Kalamazoo. The idea for this came to me (Kevin) in the middle of the night as I was pondering on ways that we could be fun, clever and introduce several elements of the Growler's branding into one quick story.

Big thanks to the Kalamazoo Growlers for having confidence in our team to let us try something off the wall.
